A recent phenomenon has occurred - groups of locals are gathering across town to reconnect with one of their favorite childhood games. "Gotta catch 'em all!" has become the aura of this small region, and you can see people congregating and catching Pokemon in all sorts of areas. City parks, downtown, the University of Idaho campus, and the Palouse Mall are just a few of the spots where Pokemon can be found!
If Pokemon sounds foreign to you, it's okay. The Pokemon Go app came out just weeks ago, and a couple of friends encouraged me to get it and try it out (it's free!). I've got to say, it's pretty awesome. Just don't be catching Pokemon when you should be working... It's very quickly become a viral activity here, and people of all ages can be found at any time of day playing this game.
For those of you who've been geocaching, which is also a fantastic activity, Pokemon Go is it's virtual (and more popular) doppelganger. All you need is a phone with GPS and a mobile data plan, and you're good to go! Just make sure to watch your step when you're out and about!
